As a White queer Mad settler, Blaze will be creatively investigating the concept of “home” as an organising principle of settler colonialism on unceded First Nations Land and how we may abolish the material, affective, ideological and relational processes working through settler colonial homes that are deeply entangled within global systems of structural, state-sanctioned violence, creeping institutional power networks (Gordon, 1997; Handel & Kotef, 2023) and political-economies of genocide (Human Rights Council, 2025). Using the materials, affects, ideologies and relations that currently are, and historically have been, associated with the “settler colonial home”, Blaze will deconstruct and (possibly) reconstruct our imaginary, emotional and moral landscapes in relation to how we know, be and do our place on unceded First Nations Land.
